Chief Constable Nick Dean
Cambridgeshire Police Federation has paid tribute to Chief Constable Nick Dean after he announced he is standing down in September.
Branch chair Liz Groom said she and her colleagues had always had a good working relationship with the Chief who has led the Force since September 2018.
She said: “Nick Dean has always been very popular with Police Federation members and has always treated everyone within the Force with fairness and respect.
“Policing has been through some turbulent times in recent years, not least during the pandemic and its aftermath, but Nick has always led with skill and sensitivity and he is appreciated for that. He gets in contact with officers who have been assaulted and is an approachable and visible boss who gets out and speaks to officers at stations which I know is really appreciated.
“He has had a long and distinguished career in policing and a very productive five years in Cambridgeshire. He retires with our best wishes and a heartfelt message of good luck for the future.”
Mr Dean has been with the police for 31 years and served with the Norfolk force before transferring to Cambridgeshire.
He said: “I have had the privilege to serve in two police forces and I have done some amazing things throughout my policing career which could never be replicated in any other job.
“It has been an immense honour to work in Cambridgeshire Constabulary with the officers, staff and volunteers who make the organisation run so efficiently on a daily basis.
“I have been part of some significant changes during my time in office, including leading the Force through the uplift programme, resulting in us employing the highest number of officers in the Constabulary’s history.”
