Cambridgeshire PC Robert Reynolds died on this day 40 years ago.
Robert was 47 when he collapsed and died of heart failure on 28 November 1984.
At the time of his death he had been on an extended tour of duty with a support unit during the national miners’ strike at Tilmastone Colliery in Kent and was on standby in a police van.
“Today we remember Robert on the 40th anniversary of his tragic death,” says Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation.
“He died serving the Force and, in the finest traditions of policing, supporting colleagues from another force at their time of need.
“We will keep Robert and his loved ones in our thoughts today.”
