Cambridgeshire Police Federation chair Liz Groom has paid tribute to a Force DCI who died on this day in 1981.

DCI Kenneth Hunt, 48, was returning to police headquarters on 23 October 1981 when he lost control of his car while overtaking and crashed into a Fenland waterway near Ramsey.

“It is incredibly important that we remember our fallen colleagues,” says Liz, “Today we pause to honour Kenneth, the service he gave to the Force and to the communities we serve, but even more importantly we think of his family, his friends and his former colleagues as they continue to feel his loss.”
