The news that a Metropolitan Police colleague was shot and killed in Croydon this morning is extremely heart-breaking, says the chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation.
Liz Groom said the loss would be felt deeply by the entire policing family.
“All our thoughts are with the officer’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad and tragic time,” Liz explained, “Until more information is forthcoming around the circumstances it would not be appropriate to comment further due to the ongoing investigation.
“This incident highlights the dangers police officers face every day in this country while keeping the public safe, and we all owe a debt of gratitude to those brave officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to those who still put themselves in danger every day.”
