Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation, is reminding members to fill out the latest pay and morale survey before the deadline in a fortnight.
The annual study gathers views from officers across all 43 English and Welsh forces on your morale, whether you consider that you are fairly paid for the challenges of your role, how you are coping with the cost of living, your health and more.
This essential information provides the data which underpins the Federation’s arguments when your representatives meet with senior police leaders and the Government to discuss police pay and conditions.
Liz said: “The pay and morale survey closes on Monday 28 October and it is super important that your Federation hears from you about your daily realities. Whilst we there are still a couple of weeks to the deadline, that time will pass quickly, so please make a plan for when you can complete the survey.
“Last year we had nearly 600 responses from Cambridgeshire officers, which was about 34 per cent. It would be fantastic if we can exceed that number this year.”
It is easy to take part – simply locate the pay and morale survey link that was emailed to you and fill out the form online.
Last year we found that 89 per cent of Cambridgeshire officers were finding the cost of living a struggle, and 71 per cent felt police pay was not as good as it should be considering the dangers and workloads. 14 per cent were planning to leave and four in five of those said the main reason was ‘how police are treated by the Government’.
The survey is issued every autumn by the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) and the results of this one will be published in spring 2025.
