There are now around two weeks for Cambridgeshire Police Federation members to vote for the colleagues who they want to be their workplace representatives.
Voting, via an online portal, opened on Monday (3 February) and will close on 23rd February. The results will be confirmed two days later.
Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation, wants to encourage as many members as possible to take part in the elections by casting their vote.
“All members should have received an email, telling them how to nominate themselves for the workplace rep elections and also how to take part in the vote,” says Liz.
“Even if members did not want to stand in the elections, I hope they will take the time to find out more about those who did put themselves forward, choose who they feel would be best suited for the role and then vote accordingly.
“The more members who vote, the better. We should feel confident that our branch is truly representative of our membership and can provide effective support for colleagues.”
A total of 28 nominations were received in Cambridgeshire, with 24 seats available.
The Federation elections, which are being held across all branches and within the national Federation itself, got underway on 30 December last year when nominations opened for workplace representatives with constables, sergeants, inspectors, chief inspectors and Specials being able to self-nominate, again using the online portal. Nominations closed on 24 January.
The elections continue in stages for most of this year, finally drawing to a close by 1 October 2025 when the new Federation’s new National Board will be in place.
Those successful in the workplace reps election will form the new Cambridgeshire Police Federation Branch Council. They can then put themselves forward to be elected to the Federation executive, the Branch Board, and, from there, a regional or a national role.
