Today marks the anniversary of the death of Cambridgeshire PC Andreas Newbery.
Andreas was 34 when he was hit by a car as he prepared to protect the scene of an earlier road accident.
“Our thoughts today are with Andreas’ family, friends and former colleagues as they mark the anniversary of this tragic incident,” says Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation.
“Police officers regularly put their lives at risk when seeking to serve and protect the public and it is important that those who lose their lives in the course of their duties are never forgotten.
“Andreas will be remembered as a kind and decent gentleman but also someone whose life was sadly taken far too soon.”
