Cambridgeshire Police Federation today remembers PC Andreas Newbery who died on this day 22 years ago.
The Cambridgeshire traffic officer, who was 34, was struck by a vehicle at the scene of a road accident on the A1 (M) at Alconbury on 5 February 2003.
“Andreas will always be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him. He was a decent and kind man whose loss was felt across the Force. Our thoughts today are with the family, friends and colleagues who he left behind,” says Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation.
Andreas had joined the Force in August 1993 after five years’ service in the Metropolitan Police. He had been a traffic officer since November 1999 based at Bottisham and St Neots.
