Officers are being urged to consider attending this year’s National Police Memorial Day which is being held in Glasgow at the end of September.

It will be the 21st memorial day honouring those officers who have given their lives while serving their communities.

The event rotates around the four nations of the UK each year and this year Scotland hosts the service at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 29 September.

“National Police Memorial Day is one of the key dates in the policing year,” says Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation, “I would urge all serving officers to try to attend at least one of the memorial day services during their policing service.

“It is, of course, a very poignant event with police officers of all ranks standing alongside representatives of the Government of the day, civil dignitaries and, most importantly, the families of fallen officers to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out their policing duties.”
