At this year’s Police Federation of England and Wales’ Annual Conference, a vote was held on a proposed £1 increase to monthly subscriptions.

The majority voted in favour of the increase. Therefore, the monthly subscription will rise to £27.31 from 1 January 2027.

Stu Taylor, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation, said: “This was not a decision taken lightly or made in haste. We fully recognise the financial pressures our members face, particularly in the current economic climate and amid ongoing cost-of-living challenges. We also recognise how hard our members work for their money, and we gave these factors serious consideration before making any decision.

“However, we also had to balance these concerns against the increasing demand for legal support, particularly in relation to conduct and equality matters, and the rising costs associated with providing that support.

“Our members deserve access to the highest quality representation, advice, and support when they need it most. These essential services must be properly funded, and the £1 monthly increase will help us maintain the standards our members rightly expect.

“It will also help ensure we can continue to support the dedicated Federation staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help deliver the best possible service to our members.”
