The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has launched its first LGBT+ self-organised group.

The group will support PFEW as it recruits LGBT+ members to be Federation representatives and will also provide opportunities for them to meet and network with the aim of supporting retention and career progression.

“We welcome the formation of this new group,” says Liz Groom, chair of Cambridgeshire Police Federation, “It will bring attention to the issues affecting LGBT+ Federation members and representatives so that these can be raised with managers and leaders.”

The new group will offer a point of contact, resource and critical friend for all Federation representatives and staff on LGBT+ issues.

Any elected representative of the Federation who identifies as LGBT+ can join the group.
